Former Norwich City star Jon Newsome doubts a potential deal to sign goalkeeper Angus Gunn will happen this summer, despite understanding why a move is being mooted.

Gunn spent the 2017/18 season on loan at the Canaries from Manchester City, coming third in the Player of the Season vote.

The Canaries finished 14th in the Championship that season but since then, Gunn has moved permanently to Southampton for a fee of £13.5m.

However, he fell out of favour and was loaned to Stoke City for the 2020/21 season.

He has been linked with a potential return to Norwich as a result, per The Pinkun, but Newsome does not think a move would be for the best for the former England U21 international.

He made a total of 15 appearances in the Championship for Stoke and Newsome believes he needs to play regularly if he is to move to a new club; if he joined Norwich, he would be battling for a first-team spot with Tim Krul.

Speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, Newsome said: “I can see where the link comes from.

“I can definitely see why the link would be there and I can definitely see why he would be interested and enticed by it but purely from a career point of view, would it be the best place to go? I’m not too sure.”

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith is interested in signing Chelsea starlet Valentino Livramento this summer.

What’s the story?

Having already completed the signing of Emi Buendia, Villa appear to have swiftly turned their attentions elsewhere as they look to strengthen Smith’s squad.

And, according to Goal, the Midlands club are eyeing up a move for 18-year-old right-back Livramento this summer, and that while Serie A giants Milan have got in touch, “Villa are among clubs that seem more viable options for the young full-back”.

The report further claims that the versatile teenager’s future at Stamford Bridge could be in doubt if the Blues land Achraf Hakimi from Borussia Dortmund.

Fans will love it

At just 18, Livramento would join the array of exciting young talents already at Villa, with the likes of Carney Chukwuemeka and Louie Barry in particular surely hoping to make a big impression on the first-team next season.

The Midlands club were, of course, the winners of the FA Youth Cup at the back end of last season, and that’s a real testament to the outstanding work Villa have been doing at academy level.

And in the 5 foot 8 Livramento, they would be getting another superb young addition.

Dubbed as a “huge talent”, the England youth international has even captained the Young Lions, playing through the U16s all the way to the U19s.

A profile piece done by Chelsea’s official website, said: “Tino Livramento is a defender who plays predominantly at right-back or right wing-back, from where he likes to get forward and attack.

“2020/21 saw Livramento become regular for the development squad, and while still available for our youth team, by January he had contributed eight assists and two goals in 14 Academy outings from various positions on his favoured right side of the pitch.”

And, despite his age, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was particularly effusive in his praise of the 18-year-old.

He said: “I love the academy boys. We have Anjorin and Livramento regularly joining training. The academy has outstanding quality. Every club who has young guys constantly coming in making it, it creates a bond in the club and supporters.”

While signings for the here and now – like Buendia for example – are absolutely key to Villa’s chances of succeeding next season in the Premier League, making sure the academy is in good hands too is paramount.

Ipswich must seal a deal for 6ft 2 Preston North End centre-forward Jayden Stockley this summer. 

What’s the talk?

According to the Lancashire Post, Ipswich are one of the clubs interested in signing 6ft 2 Stockley from Preston North End. Charlton and Rotherham are also keen on the attacker, with him having been on loan to the former last season, and Portsmouth have been given permission to discuss personal terms this week.

The Lancashire Post had previously reported that Stockley’s preference was to join Charlton on a permanent basis at the end of the season. Portsmouth, however, are now leading the race for his signature and Ipswich are looking to get involved in the chase.

Former Charlton boss Lee Bowyer lauded Stockley upon his arrival at The Valley on loan in January. He told Charlton’s official website:

“There was a lot of interest in him, he’s a good striker and normally in these transfer windows good strikers don’t become available.

“I’ve got a good relationship with Peter Ridsdale at Preston and I have to thank him for his help and obviously the manager and their owner. He’s a Championship striker and with their help and a lot of our persistence, we were able to fend off interest from other clubs.

“We know what problems he caused us last season, so I’m delighted to have him here. With his experience, his goals, he is definitely going to add to us.”

Cook needs him

Paul Cook is desperately lacking in quality options at the top end of the pitch and he needs a player like Stockley to bolster his squad this summer.

James Norwood ended the season as Ipswich’s top goalscorer in League One with a paltry nine strikes and was one of only two players with more than four league goals for the club. Gwion Edwards’ tally of six placed him second on the list, emphasising the need for Ipswich to dip into the market to add more goals to their side ahead of next season.

Stockley could be the perfect man to bring in as he has proven that he has the quality to score goals at an impressive rate at League One level.

He picked up eight goals in the second half of the campaign for Charlton, one fewer than Norwood managed all season, and vastly outperformed the Ipswich man in terms of his all-around game. Stockley averaged an eye-catching WhoScored rating of 7.41 for Charlton, whilst Norwood’s score of 6.68 appears unimpressive in comparison.

The £5.1k-per-week ace has also been a goal machine in the EFL prior to his spell with Charlton. He scored an impressive 35 goals in two League Two seasons with Exeter, showing that he has the quality to score goals on a consistent basis in the EFL, which could solve Cook’s goalscoring problems and add the attacking flair he is lacking at the moment.

Ipswich must do all they can to convince Stockley to make a move to their club.

A reliable journalist has dropped an exciting transfer claim on Leeds United’s pursuit of Nicolas Tagliafico.

Speaking on the Kick-off podcast (via Voetbalprimeur), De Telegraaf reporter Mike Verweij has claimed that the Elland Road club’s interest in the Ajax defender seems to be ‘more serious than anyone assumed’, adding that Inter Milan also appear to be in the market for him.

Leeds must sign Tagliafico

Marcelo Bielsa’s team must do all that they can to try and sign Tagliafico once the summer transfer window opens.

The left-back would certainly be an upgrade on Ezgjan Alioski, as he has averaged more interceptions (1.8), clearances (1.3), shots (1.6), key passes (one), dribbles (0.4), crosses (0.7) and long balls (1.3) than the Leeds man so far in their respective domestic leagues this season.

One may argue that the Eredivisie is not at as high of a standard than the Premier League, but these figures show that Tagliafico is a more than capable player both in attacking and defensive areas.

At 28 years of age, the Argentina international is only just reaching the peak of his powers, and so now may be the best time for Leeds to capitalise on that by trying to bring him to Elland Road.

He would certainly seem a shrewd addition by the Whites should they be able to secure his signature.

Foram três anos com o Nem. Como foi a parceria?
Fizemos uma boa campanha no Figueirense, quando ele estava emprestado. Os 11 titulares foram vendidos, se empregaram bem e eu fui com o Nem para o Fluminense. Desde então, construímos amizade forte dentro e fora de campo.

Sua melhor fase da carreira foi com ele?
Sim, no Figueirense e no Fluminense, quando conquistamos Carioca e Brasileiro em nosso primeiro ano. A gente fazia muita jogada e combinava dancinha para comemorar os gols. Ele me ajudava muito na direita, eu dava opção para ele jogar ou cortar para o meio.

A chegada dele pode frear a ascensão dos garotos?
Não, dá para todo mundo jogar. O calendário é muito desgastante, não tem como. Eu que nunca fui de machucar tive duas lesões e ainda sou um dos que mais jogou na temporada. É muito treino e jogo acumulado, então precisa de elenco forte para ser mais competitivo. Precisamos aprender com o que aconteceu neste ano.

Gillingham’s Scottish manager Steve Evans has revealed that “four or five” Premier League bosses have called him to ask about Glasgow Rangers defender James Tavernier.

Evans managed Gers captain Tavernier at Rotherham, and the two remain in touch to this day.

Speaking to the Daily Record, the 58-year-old has revealed that several bosses in the English top flight have asked him about the Ibrox right-back. He said:

“I believe Premier League clubs have come in for James. I’ve spoken to four or five bosses who wanted a character reference on him. That’s just in the last six months.

“But James loves being at that club. Some days when he’s out for a run, he’ll go past Ibrox – just to have a look at the place.

“He’d never say that in public but that tells you how much the kid loves it there.”

Vital to the Gers

Tavernier is undoubtedly one of Steven Gerrard’s most important players this season. As skipper, he has led the team by example – the 29-year-old has managed more goals and assists than every other player in the squad (Transfermarkt), while he has been part of a backline which has shipped just 10 goals in the Premiership (BBC).

It is hardly surprising to hear that teams south of the border are interested in his services. Fortunately for the 55-time Scottish champions, it appears that his future remains at Ibrox. He recently signed a new contract which will keep him at the club until 2024 (rangers.co.uk), and as Evans explained, he is loving life in Glasgow. English sides can try all they want to sign him – their actions will most likely be in vain.

In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, Rob Lee, who made 267 Premier League appearances for Newcastle United, believes Mike Ashley should reconsider his valuation of the club because of how much needs improving.

Ashley has owned Newcastle since 2007 when he bought a majority share of the club from the previous owner Freddy Shepherd, and the Sports Direct tycoon was greeted with mountains of debt which he failed to notice through not doing much due diligence before purchasing the club.

It started off positively under Ashley as he watched matches from the stands with fans and brought back Kevin Keegan as manager, however after two relegations and the potential for a third this season, the mood on Tyneside has turned far more toxic towards the owner.

Speaking on why Ashley’s valuation of the club should be reconsidered because of what other clubs have compared to Newcastle, Lee told FFC:

“Is somebody prepared to pay the money that he’s asking for considering what they will be getting in return?

“You look around the grounds in the Premier League and there are a lot better ones around than St James’ Park, and we’ve probably got one of the worst training grounds in the league.

“You look at the players we’ve got and you probably couldn’t sell many of them for a lot of money. So what exactly are you getting? You’ll get the name Newcastle United, but what else are you getting for £330 million?”

Mike Ashley has decided to stick by Steve Bruce despite many expecting him to be sacked after the 3-0 defeat against Brighton.

If Newcastle were to be relegated for a third time under Ashley, it would certainly knock a large sum off the valuation of the club.

في الدقيقة 27 لم يتمكن النجم إبراهيموفيتش من استئناف المباراة متأثرًا بإصابة وغادر الملعب ودفع بيولي مدرب ميلان، بجيرو بديلاً له.

وكاد ثيو هيرنانديز يفتتح التسجيل بفرصة لميلان بعد تسديدة قوية لكن تشيزني نجح في التصدي لها بالدقيقة 63.

وفي الدقيقة 65 قام أليجري بأولى تبديلاته ودفع بآرثر ميلو وبيرنارديسكي بدلاً من لوكاتيلي وخوان كوادرادو.

ثك سدد جيرو على مرمى يوفنتوس ونجح تشيزني في التصدي وإبعاد الكرة في الدقيقة 69.

وقام أليجري بتبديل آخر ليوفنتوس في الدقيقة 73 وشارك مويس كين بدلاً من ألفارو موراتا.

كما أجرى بيولي تبديلين لميلان بخروج لياو وكالابريا ومشاركة ريبيتش وفلورينزي في الدقيقة 75.

في الدقيقة 89 حصل مويس كين على بطاقة صفراء بعد تدخل على رومانيولي.

ثم أجرى أليجري تبديلين بمشاركة رابيو وكولوسيفسكي على حساب بينتانكور وديبالا.

لم تسفر الدقائق المتبقية عن أهداف لتنتهي المباراة بالتعادل السلبي، ليتواجد ميلان في المركز الثالث بترتيب الدوري الإيطالي برصيد 49 نقطة متساويًا مع نابولي الوصيف الذي يتفوق بفارق الأهداف، ويوفنتوس في المركز الخامس برصيد 42 نقطة، خلف أتالانتا الرابع الذي يملك 43 نقطة، أما الصدارة يحتلها إنتر ميلان بـ 53 نقطة.
