Moyes speaks positively about Calvert-Lewin

The Blues begin their Premier League season with a trip to Leeds United on Monday evening, as they come up against former striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Speaking ahead of the game, David Moyes discussed his former striker in positive fashion, saying he is happy that he has found a new challenge in his career.

“I’m pleased for Dom because I’ve had a really good relationship with him. I didn’t really get a chance to work with him. He picked up the injury – I think it was Brighton – and we only really got him back on the last day.

“I think I had one game or two games with Dom. But we found the financials too much at the time and we chose to move on. “I’m really pleased he’s got himself sorted out and gone to Leeds United and it’s a really good club.”

In terms of possible new signings for Everton between now and the end of this month, a positive update has now emerged regarding their potential pursuit of a long-time target.

His current club are said to be desperate to sell him, with his price tag dropping to as little as £17.2m from £25.8m in recent weeks, and a huge amount lower than his £103.5m release clause, which Benfica were quoting to teams last summer.

Luis has been a target for Everton for some time, with those high up at the club clearly rating him, so to sign him for a hugely cut-price fee before the end of the summer window could be a real coup.

The 25-year-old has matured into a dominant midfielder, winning two Primeira Liga titles for Benfica, among other trophies, as well as winning an incredible 82 caps for Portugal at international youth team level, and being called “excellent” by scout Jacek Kulig.

Mohamed Salah was the star of the show with a hat-trick for the visitors, with Naby Keita and Diogo Jota also getting on the scoresheet. Unfortunately for the Red Devils, though, things would only get worse against Liverpool.

6 Watford 4-1 Manchester United 2021/22

A heavy defeat at Vicarage Road against relegation-threatened Watford proved to be the final straw for Solskjaer as Man Utd manager in November 2021.

The Hornets, who would pick jump just 23 points all season and finish 19th, ran out comfortable winners, with captain Harry Maguire being shown a red card to cap things off for the Red Devils. Solskjaer left the club the following day.

5 Brighton 4-0 Manchester United 2021/22

Ralf Rangnick took interim charge of Man Utd following Solskjaer’s Old Trafford departure, but he had seen enough by the time his side were hammered by Brighton in May 2022.

Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella, Pascal Gross and Leandro Trossard were the goalscorers for the Seagulls on the day to end United’s slim chances of Champions League qualification.

4 Brentford 4-0 Manchester United 2022/23

With Erik ten Hag the new man in charge at Old Trafford, there was plenty of positivity in the summer of 2022.

However, that quickly evaporated as Brentford stunned the Red Devils by scoring four goals in the first half, even with Cristiano Ronaldo in the starting line-up.

In the first reverse fixture of this season, Warriorz defended 177 by bowling Capitals out for 144 for a 33-run victory. They are also the first team to defend a total in this edition.The Chinnaswamy Stadium came alive late in the first innings thanks to Henry’s fireworks. From 89 for 6, her entertaining 23-ball knock lifted Warriorz from a potential below-par total to a match-winning one. Striking at an astonishing 269.56, Henry smashed eight sixes and two fours to reach the joint-fastest fifty, off 18 balls, in WPL history.In the chase, Jemimah Rodrigues’s 56 held the fort but Capitals collapsed from 97 for 3 to 111 for 7 and couldn’t recover. Niki Prasad and Shikha Pandey’s handy contributions at the death weren’t enough as Goud and Harris shared eight wickets between them to topple Capitals.Goud’s dream spellGoud, 21, bowled just four overs in the first two matches in her debut WPL season. She conceded just two off her next over, the seventh overall, and dismissed Shafali Verma in her next over with a short delivery. Three overs, 16 runs and two wickets. When Goud finished her first spell, Capitals needed 126 runs from 66 balls.When she came back for her final over, Capitals had to chase 76 off 36 with Rodrigues going strong. In this WPL, the likes of Tahlia McGrath and Harris not stepping up in the middle order has been a concern for Warriorz. It has left Henry with a lot of rescue work to do late in the innings. In the last match, she blazed away an unbeaten 33 off 15 to power them to 166.On Saturday, Henry came in at No. 8 in the 14th over when Warriorz were 89 for 6 and straightaway dispatched two sixes off Arundhati Reddy to ease some pressure. She then targeted Pandey, smashing a four and two sixes in the 17th over, and threw a few more big blows before eventually losing her wicket to Jonassen on the final ball of the innings.Warriorz have been the poorest team in the middle phase (from overs seven to 16) this WPL, having lost 15 wickets in the three games including five on Saturday, but Henry helped them fight back on this occasion.Rodrigues fights but Capitals fail to adaptThe ball was swinging and nipping around at the start of the second innings, troubling the likes of Shafali and Lanning. But Warriorz were sloppy in the field; Saima Thakor, brought back but not given a bow, dropped two catches and wicketkeeper Uma Chetry failed to hold on to chances; however Goud pulled them back. Even Rodrigues took 19 balls to score her first 23 runs and once she found her rhythm, she grew in confidence and smashed eye-pleasing boundaries to the cover region. But she has not set the stage on fire in this WPL yet, scoring just 18 runs in three games. However, with the ball, she had picked up two wickets in her first two matches and went one better on Saturday. She first dismissed Capitals’ Player of the Match from last fixture, Annabel Sutherland, in the 14th over of the chase.In the final over, with 34 needed for a win, Harris removed Prasad, Reddy and Minnu Mani off successive deliveries to become the third player in the WPL to bag a hat-trick after Deepti and Issy Wong.

O duelo contra as chilenas acontecerá no domingo (2) e também terá a presença de Ednaldo.

Por fim, na segunda-feira (3), Ednaldo Rodrigues, ainda em Brasília, terá um encontro com o Ministro da Justiça, Flávio Dino, onde será assinado um acordo de cooperação técnica chamado ‘Estádio Seguro’.

His unbeaten 118 helped Zimbabwe seal their first ODI series win since March 2023, their first against a Full Member team since August 2022, and their first against Ireland in nearly ten years.Curran came in on the back of low scores in the first two ODIs, but showed exactly why he’s rated so highly while leading Zimbabwe to their target of 241 with 63 balls to spare. As the Harare pitch eased out in the afternoon, he stroked his way to a 38-ball half-century – hitting nine of his 14 fours during that initial burst – before settling into a more relaxed pace as his captain Craig Ervine glided his way to an unbeaten 69 off 59 balls. Curran added an unbroken 122 with Ervine for the second wicket, having first put on a 124-run opening stand with Brian Bennett.It was a perfect day for the hosts from the time Ervine won the toss and elected to field. Ireland’s innings never got going despite fifties from Andy Balbirnie, Harry Tector, and Lorcan Tucker. Zimbabwe only used five bowlers, with Richard Ngarava and Trevor Gwandu, who picked up two wickets each, applying constant pressure across all phases of the innings.Curran played his shots fearlessly from ball one – his attempted flick off that ball flew away off the leading edge, but it didn’t discourage him from cutting the next ball for four. The introduction of spin and a 30-minute rain interruption did not break the flow of the batters or affect the conditions. It’s certainly the correct route to go down, considering Paqueta also has a similar varied reputation, with Fernandes ending the 3-0 contest with only three misplaced passes next to his name.

Yet, he also regularly attempted to win the ball back away from merely stylishly spraying it about the pitch, with three tackles in total registered.

The similarities between Paqueta and Fernandes don’t end here, with both key performers for Potter’s men at the City Ground flexible presences who can line up through the middle as a number ten, or down the flank, meaning they could well swap roles as the campaign drags on.

If the under-fire Hammers boss can also get both players to deliver top-quality performances like the ones on show at the Tricky Trees all season long, he should be far safer in his precarious job role.

It was quite the showing from the £42m youngster on his Hammers debut, with Fernandes perhaps even going down as a mega Rice-style sale down the line, having previously attracted interest from Manchester United and Villa, before putting pen to paper on a London Stadium move.

Hailed as “superb” during the victory by West Ham content creator Dan Woffenden, it does seem as if Potter and Co. have struck gold already on landing the coveted signature of Fernandes.

Hopefully, he remains in claret and blue for some time, before perhaps exploding even more into life away from East London, like the £100m Rice.

وتستضيف الدول الثلاثة المذكورة منافسات النسخة المقبلة من كأس العالم، في الفترة بين 11 يونيو و19 يوليو 2026، حيث سيتم إجراء القرعة في ديسمبر القادم، وتحديدًا يوم الجمعة الموافق 5 من الشهر المذكور.

ويشارك 48 منتخبًا في تلك النسخة من البطولة، وهي الأولى بعد زيادة عدد المنتخبات، وتمتلك قارة أوروبا 16 مقعدًا بتلك المنافسات.

ويتأهل 12 منتخبًا بشكل مباشر من أوروبا إلى كأس العالم 2026، وهم متصدرو المجموعات الـ12، في حين أن البطاقات الأربعة المتبقية ستُحدد من خلال ملحق يضم 12 منتخبًا (أصحاب المركز الثاني في المجموعات المذكورة)، بخلاف أفضل 4 منتخبات من دوري الأمم الأوروبية (التي لم تتأهل بالفعل).

وأصبحت إنجلترا أول المتأهلين من أوروبا بعدما فازت على لاتفيا بخمسة أهداف دون رد في الجولة الثامنة من التصفيات.

وتأهلت فرنسا كذلك عقب فوزها على أوكرانيا بأربعة أهداف دون رد في الجولة قبل الأخيرة من التصفيات، في حين تأهلت كرواتيا عقب فوزها على جزر فارو بنتيجة 3/1.

أما البرتغال فقد تأهلت عقب فوزها العريض على أرمينيا بتسعة أهداف لهدف في الجولة الأخيرة، في حين تأهلت النرويج عقب فوزها على إيطاليا بنتيجة 4/1.

وتأهل منتخب ألمانيا عقب فوزه على سلوفاكيا بستة أهداف دون رد، كما تأهلت هولندا بعدما فازت برباعية نظيفة على ليتوانيا.
