Manchester United fans react as Henderson set for new deal

[ad_pod ]

It’s safe to say that David de Gea has been one of Manchester United’s best players for several years now. The Spain international has been incredible in between the sticks for the Red Devils and has consistently been named in most PFA Team of the Seasons.

However, following a season of below-par performances and surprising errors there have been some question marks over De Gea, and after an impressive season on loan at Sheffield United, Dean Henderson might fancy his chances of becoming United’s first-choice shot-stopper in the coming years.

According to the Daily Mirror, the 22-year-old will sign a new deal at Old Trafford before returning to the Blades for another season-long loan; news that seemed to go down very well with United fans on Twitter.

Many seemed to think another campaign away – particularly with Sheffield United earning promotion to the Premier League this season – will do his development the world of good and see him come back as a far more polished goalkeeper.

Indeed, some even suggested that come the 2020/21 season Henderson could quite conceivably be the Red Devils’ number one and labelled the new contract as “smart business” on United’s part, something there hasn’t been much of in recent years.

Jackie McNamara predicts a big Rangers player exit from Ibrox this summer

[ad_pod ]

Former Scotland international Jackie McNamara reckons Rangers could sell one of Alfredo Morelos or James Tavernier this summer, speaking to website Football Insider.

What’s the story?

So far this summer Rangers have wasted no time in making additions to Steven Gerrard’s first-team squad.

Along with the permanent signing of Steven Davis, five more have arrived – Greg Stewart, Jordan Jones, Jake Hastie, George Edmundson and Sheyi Ojo.

As yet, the Gers boss has managed to keep the core of his first-team intact despite completing those deals, but McNamara reckons that one of last season’s big players could be sold to make room for more signings.

Watch the best fails from the world of indoor football in the video below…

As quoted by Football Insider, the former Dundee United boss said:

“Rangers, there will be changes there in some way, inevitably some ins and outs to fund things for them.

I think either Morelos or Tavernier could move on to free up quite a bit of money for them to invest in other positions.

I think Morelos is the one that they think will earn them the most money, Tavernier’s one that could bring them in a good bit of money. He has done well last year.

It’s hard to put a price on him. They were talking about £20million for Morelos which I don’t think they’ll get anywhere near. I think more realistic will be £10million or £12million.”

Should Rangers look to sell either player?

Both Morelos and Tavernier scored the bulk of Rangers’ goals last season as the team’s top two scorers, netting a massive 47 between them across all competitions.

With Tavernier also contributing an outstanding 20 assists, it’s clear that losing either would significantly hamper the team’s ability to create and score goals next season.

Replacing either directly in the transfer market feels unrealistic given their enormous contributions, unless the Gers are sitting on extensively scouted targets that they know can produce those kind of numbers.

If Rangers are serious about challenging Celtic next season then they can’t afford to sell either right now.

Retaining the club’s best players is just as important as adding quality to the squad if they want to make a trophy charge.

Aston Villa fans divided over Emre Mor speculation

[ad_pod ]

Aston Villa’s transfer plans continue to mount with the pursuit of Turkey international, Emre Mor, per The Sun.

The 21-year-old is attracting the interest of all three newly-promoted Premier League clubs; Villa, Norwich and Sheffield United.

A winger by trade, he is currently playing for Celta Vigo after previously developing at Borussia Dortmund.

However, reacting to the news of a possible switch on Twitter, a host of Villa fans were left divided over whether he’d make a good addition to the Villa squad.

Some fans were unconvinced as one claimed he was more interested in cars and women, making reference to some of the attitude problems he’s had at Vigo. Another suggested they didn’t want bad egos at the club.

Yet, some supporters were keen on the 15-cap Turkey international. One said that they could have a class player on their hands but a further commented he had good skills.

Mor played ten times in La Liga last season but failed to score or assist a single goal. In his career to date his development hasn’t really gone to plan, scoring just two goals in his last 50 outings for his respective clubs.

Here’s the best of the reaction from Villa fans.

Liverpool fans aren’t fond of links to Marco Asensio

[ad_pod ]

It’s difficult to find any real dents in Jurgen Klopp’s heavy armour at Liverpool.

The Reds have definitely proved they are among the very best teams in the world by winning the 2018/19 Champions League and finishing second to Manchester City in the Premier League with a whopping 97 points.

But that doesn’t mean Klopp couldn’t strengthen his squad further this summer, and the newest report coming from El Desmarque links the Reds to Real Madrid’s Spanish starlet Marco Asensio.

If the outlet is to be believed, the Reds are willing to splash around €75M (£67.4m) to land the highly-rated 23 year-old to reinforce their team.

But despite his impressive trophy haul and reputation, Asensio doesn’t seem to be an extremely wanted, or even respected, player among the Kop faithful.

Many of them are urging the club not to make the mistake of chasing this starlet as they believe his quality to be subpar, regardless of the hype.

Special Report: How Marko Arnautovic’s relationship with West Ham deteriorated

[ad_pod ]

The following article is a special report; all information presented has been gleaned from Football FanCast sources unless otherwise stated.

Marko Arnautovic has left West Ham United.

That will come as no surprise to any single Hammers fan, or anyone with a remote interest in West Ham’s affairs.

This has been a long-running saga and now we have finally reached the endgame; the Austria international has forced his way out of east London and is now heading to Shanghai SIPG.

The Chinese club have paid roughly £22.5m for the striker, sources understand, and it has been deposited straight into the Hammers’ coffers, with the club insisting they needed the funds to launch a move for Maxi Gomez, the Celta Vigo forward.

That deal appears dead in the water, however.

Gomez, sources believe, has chosen a move to Valencia; West Ham offered to pay the €50m (£44.9m) release clause in his contract and were also prepared to give him a weekly wage of £75,000 but he has instead opted to remain in Spain and play in the Champions League next season.

It paints a rather unhappy picture at the Hammers, who have been left with just Javier Hernandez and Jordan Hugill as their striking options.

Of course, Arnautovic and Gomez’s futures have always looked interlinked.

West Ham made a move to sign the Uruguay international in January, when Arnautovic first looked to depart the club.

Back then, he informed West Ham of his desire to move to China after a bid of £30m was tabled.

The Hammers, though, wanted £45m as they looked to, you guessed it, do a deal for Gomez. The money received was to be reinvested wholesale into the signing of the Celta forward.

That increasingly looks like a foolish decision, particularly when one considers that Gomez will not be the man to replace the Austrian.

Yet, at the time, co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan asked manager Manuel Pellegrini if he wanted to keep the forward at the club. Pellegrini responded that he was happy to work with the striker and Arnautovic was convinced to stay.

Those within the London Stadium believed that they had pulled off a masterstroke. A clause was included in the deal that would allow Arnautovic to leave for £45m this summer. They anticipated that there would be a major offer from the Chinese Super League in this transfer window.

And yet, the player downed tools. The club have mistrusted Arnautovic’s brother, Danijel, who is also his agent, throughout his spell at the club and there was a feeling, per sources, that his sibling had got into the forward’s ear.

He went 11 games without a goal in the Premier League after the saga at the turn of the year. With two games of the season left, and the transfer window looming, he netted three times across the 180 minutes. Looking back now, it feels as though one should have seen his departure coming.

At the beginning of the summer, as Pellegrini initially sketched out his plans for recruitment with Director of Football Mario Husillos, he identified Gomez as a potential target because he could play alongside Arnautovic.

The manager was confident that the latter would stay in east London due, in large part, to the fact that he endured such a poor ending to the campaign.

Both Lucas Perez and Andy Carroll were subsequently allowed to leave.

Indeed, as soon as the bid from China came in, sources told FFC that “Arnie’s playing up again”.

There was an expectation that this could happen if another bid came in but West Ham, in January, were hopeful that there would be an offer approaching his clause.

Instead, here was a bid, worth around £19.7m, that would rob the Irons of the chance to receive any sort of profit from the £25m they paid to sign him from Stoke City.

Arnautovic immediately requested that the offer be accepted but the Hammers initially told him that he would have to see out his contract or hope that a club matched his clause.

Both Gold and Sullivan, though, consulted with Pellegrini over the reception of the bid, and the former Manchester City boss told them to cash in. Both the Chilean and the club’s dressing room had grown sick of Arnautovic’s antics. Sources have suggested that players were consulted too.

The club still stood firm in their belief that the forward was worth more than £20m but when Shanghai tabled an offer of £22.5m, they told the Hammers that it was a take-it-or-leave-it bid.

On Pellegrini’s say-so, they took it.

It remains to be seen who West Ham can find to replace him; Gomez is off to Valencia, Salomon Rondon has been heavily linked with a move to the Chinese Super League and Aleksandar Mitrovic has signed a new contract at Fulham.

Perhaps they will be better off without the Austrian, though, regardless of the remainder of their summer activity, one feels that they could really do with a forward who doesn’t consistently ask to leave.

Joel Pereira posts picture with Man United goalkeepers on Instagram

[ad_pod ]

Manchester United’s stars have already landed in Australia and they are now getting ready for their first pre-season matches.

The Red Devils will take on the local team, Perth Glory, before facing Leeds United. After that, they will depart Australia and continue their tour elsewhere.

Joel Pereira, the 23-year-old goalkeeper, has also found his name among the 28 called up by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the big trip.

The young Portuguese goalie hasn’t really seen much action in the red Manchester shirt.

He’s been jumping from loan to loan in the last couple of seasons, but he could get an opportunity to get some game time under his belt on the pre-season tour.

And if his latest

/BzvVe6zlgSR/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link” data-lasso->Instagram snap is any indication, he is very much enjoying his time with some of the more senior squad members.

He shared an image with De Gea and Sergio Romero, two other Manchester United goalies, and they seemed in good spirits ahead of the pre-season kick-off.

The Spaniard replied with some emojis to show his support for his young “apprentice”.

Pereira played nine games for Vitoria Setubal last season before returning to England.

Manchester United ambassador Andy Cole shares Instagram snap from Shanghai

[ad_pod ]

Manchester United are burning through their 2019 summer pre-season schedule with ease and, more importantly, with great success so far.

After playing twice in Australia and once in Singapore, the Red Devils have now landed in Shanghai where they await a fairly familiar rival, Tottenham Hotspur.

That specific clash will be played on July 25th and will be the second fixture of their International Champions Cup (ICC), a tournament Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer’s troops have already won once before.

Andy Cole, their ex-player and icon, is travelling with the squad as an ambassador, and it’s safe to say he is enjoying his time abroad.

He took to

/B0OFLoChw94/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link” data-lasso->Instagram to share a brilliant snap of the breathtaking view from Shanghai and it was soon met with plenty of positive feedback from other stars and friends.

Another icon of the game but from a rival club, Ian Wright, was the first one to the scene and he shared some love with his friend.

Wright posted a reply saying how he loves Cole and followed it up with some heart emojis.

It seems that despite being bitter rivals during their playing careers, there’s still enough friendly love in the air between the pair.

Crystal Palace fans concerned Fedor Chalov could be another Alexander Sorloth

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Crystal Palace fans on Twitter have one major concern after the club was linked with a move for CSKA Moscow striker Fedor Chalov.

The first link came via Russia-based website Championat, with Sky Sports later reporting that the south London outfit had submitted an offer in the region of £14m for the 21-year-old.

The two-time Russia international certainly enjoyed an impressive 2018/19 campaign, scoring 17 goals and providing a further seven assists in 37 appearances in all competitions, while he has one goal and one assist in three outings already this term.

Should he end up arriving at Selhurst Park the attacker could easily end up being a replacement for Alexander Sorloth, who Palace are reportedly looking to use as a makeweight in a bid to sign Brentford forward Ollie Watkins.

Sorloth’s time at SE25 has been extremely disappointing, and he is yet to find the net in 16 Premier League appearances having arrived in a £9m deal in January 2018.

Given Chalov has also never played in England before and would be coming from an inferior league, Eagles supporters on the popular social media platform are clearly worried that he could follow in the Norwegian’s footsteps given some of their comments.

Crystal Palace fans react as Luka Milivojevic linked with Lazio move

[ad_pod ]

According to a report by Corriere dello Sport, via Sport Witness, Lazio are intrigued by Crystal Palace midfielder Luka Milivojevic’s contract situation at Selhurst Park as they say the player has no intention of signing a new one, and Eagles fans have been quick to react on Twitter.

The Serbia international has established himself as one of the south London outfit’s key players in recent seasons, and he was even their top goalscorer from the middle of the park during the 2018/19 campaign.

However, the 28-year-old only has one year remaining on his deal at SE25 and has no intention of extending his stay with Roy Hodgson’s side according to Corriere dello Sport, via Sport Witness, with Lazio considering him as a potential replacement if they lose Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer.

Unsurprisingly, Eagles supporters on the popular social media platform have been quick to react to the report emerging from Italy, and they have some strong opinions.

While one says it is “disappointing to hear”, another labelled the midfielder as “irreplaceable”, which comes as no surprise seeing as he scored 12 Premier League goals last term and is the team’s free-kick and penalty taker.

If he did go in the next week he would undoubtedly leave big shoes to fill, but it could also be a dilemma for Palace as it may be their last chance to get a decent fee for him if he does indeed have no intention of putting pen-to-paper on that new contract.

Manchester United fans react as Solskjaer opens the door for Alexis Sanchez to stay

[ad_pod ]

Having arrived as a major coup from Arsenal, it’s fair to say Alexis Sanchez’s hasn’t quite delivered on expectations at Manchester United.

The Chile international has suffered from a loss of form and numerous injuries, and reports in recent weeks had even suggested he could be set for a move away from Old Trafford.

However, speaking in his pre-Chelsea press conference, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed he expects the 30-year-old to stay at the club for the foreseeable future and backed him to make his mark as a striker.

After hearing the update about the Chilean’s future, United fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on Solskjaer’s revelation.

[ad_pod ]

Many threw their backing behind the decision to hand Sanchez another chance at the club and urged their fellow fans to have “patience”.

Others however insisted the former Arsenal star’s career at Old Trafford is done and blamed Solskjaer for trying to suggest otherwise.
